The Distribution of the Number of Thunderstorms in Eastern China

  • The thunderstcrms occur more frequently in southern countries than in the northerny in the hills than in the plains; and less in the coast than inland. The days with thunderstorm averge 5-10 in the coast and in North China, 20-30 in South China, 10-20 in Central China, and lest than 5 in the NW Plateaux.In most parts of the country, the thunderstorms mainly occur in the summer months with the exception of Hunan,Kiangsi, Chekiang and Liaotung where the max. occurence of the thunder-storms is either in springs or in autumn.Over 60% of the thun-derstorms occurs in the afternoon, between 13-21 hours.
