THE INFLUENCE OF THE SLOPE OF A PLATEAU ON THE MOVEMENT OF TROUGHS AND RIDGES

It is demonstrated in this paper that the phase velocity of the troughs and ridges moving along the slope of a plateau or a mountain range should be affected. by the slope according to the formula(6).It is shown in fig. 3, that this is in fairly good agreement with the synoptic experience that the systems move slower on the southern periphery of Tibet plateau than those on the northern one.
