THE EFFECT OF THE ABNORMAL SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURE OF THE EAST EQUATORIAL PACIFIC OCEAN ON THE WESTERLIES OVER EAST ASIA——A DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS

  • According to the abnormal sea surface temperature of the east equatorial Pacific Ocean, two winter months (a cold and a warm) are selected. The differences of the stxucture of.Hadley and Walker circulation in the pairs of opposite cases and their influences on the poleward transport of angular momentum and the vertical transport of heat in the atmosphere are given. So that the physical mechanism of the effect of the abnormal sea surface temperature of the east equatorial Pacific Ocean on the westerlies over East Asia is revealed.
