A STATISTICAL ANALYSIS FOR TYPHOON POSITIONING ERRORS OVER NORTHWESTERN PACIFIC OCEAN

In this study errors for typhoon positioning were statistically analysed during the period 1975-1979 over the Northwesternl Pacific. The reason of the error distribution which doesn't coincide with the bivariate normal and its influence on the track forecasting are suggested. Some suggestions about the improvement of the track forecasting are given.
