CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE NONLINEAR INTERACTIONS AMONG WAVES TO THE FORMATION, PERSISTENCE AND DECAY OF THE BLOCKING

The linear and nonlinear interactions among waves are studied by spectral energy equations. It is found that the formation and persistence of the blocking relate to the supply energy through nonlinear interactions. The decay of the blocking relates to the losing energy through nonlinear interactions.
