THE DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE LATENT HEATING IN A DEPRESSION OVER THE BAY OF BENGAL DURING 1979 SUMMER MONEX

Based on the data sets of the denser special upper-air observations acquired in 1979 Summer MONEX, the latent heat fields of a depression over the Bay of Bengal during 3-9 July are computed. It has been found that the patterns (position and magnitude) of large-scale and convective heating are closely associated with the development of the depression.
