ON SIMILARITY AND THE TURBULENT STRUCTURE IN THE STABLE BOUNDARY LAYER

  • In the stably stratified boundary layer, the vertical profiles of momentum and temperature flux can be obtained from a boundary layer model which includs parameterizing the long-wave radiation. In addition, the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory can be extended to the whole SBL, by using the local turbulent scales L(z),U*(z), θ*(z) in place of surface Layer scales. The similarity predications are in agreement well with observational data.
