AN ERROR ANALYSIS OF LASER REMOTE MEASUREMENT OF ATMOSPHERIC EXTINCTION COEFFICIENT

  • The assumption of a constant ratio k of atmospheric extinction coefficient to atmospheric volume backscattering differential cross section in laser remote measurement is not always valid due to the variations of properties of atmospheric aerosols and atmospheric molecular scattering. In this paper the change of k and its resulted errors in measurement of atmospheric extinction coefficient distribution are discussed.
