SCATTERING PHASE MATRICES OF ICE CRYSTALS WITH HEXAGONAL PRISM AND TRIANGULAR PYRAMID FORM——A VECTOR RAY TRACING METHOD

  • The work presented previously by the authors (Cai and Liou) has been developed in the paper.By inking use of the improved model the calculations on scattering phase matrices of hexagonal prism crystals (monodispersed or dispersed size distribution) have been made.The computer time necessary decreased by about two orders of magnitude and the errors of the results are less for the new model comparing with C-L model.Meanwhile the scattering phase matrices of triangular pyramid ice crystals are also calculated in the paper.Tile comparisons between the two forms of ice crystal are performed.
