AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON WARM FOG MODIFICATION

The radiation fog is a serious problem to aviation at Shuangliu airport in Chengdu in winter time.A project of field observation on the micro-physics of fog were carried out at this airport during the winters of 1985-1987.After the analyses of field observation data a set of fog dissipation experiments was performed using a thermo-dynamic method.The results show that all the fog droplets are evaporated in the target area only two minutes after the jet engine working.The cleanout area is about 6000m2 and the visibility is improved from 30m before the experiment to 260m.
