  • By using a band-passed techniqe and statistical analysis, it was filtered SST in the tropical Pacific Ocean from COADS data set and 500 hPa height field in order to extract information with 3-4 year period. Lagged correlation fields between SST and height field are calculated, and time-longitude and timelatitude cross-section of the correlation coefficients are analysed. Some meaning phenomena of interaction between SST in the tropical East, Middle and West Pacific and the atmospheric circulation are found. It is believed that the large scale sea-air interaction is complex, and depends on its time scale and geographis location of. ocean heating (or cooling).
