Abstract
A series of GCM experiments are performed to determine the nature of the atmospheric response to warm SST anomalies in the midlatitude and the tropical Atlantic Ocean during the Northern Hemisphere summer. It is concluded that the SST anomalies in Atlantic Ocean is one of the important factors causing the atmospheric anomalies of east Asia, especially the east Asian monsoon circulation: during the Northern Hemisphere summer.
