AN ANALYSIS OF URBAN HEAT ISLAND EFFECT FOR AIR TEMPERATURE USING NOAA SATELLITE DATA

  • According to the boundary layer theory, the profiles of temperature and dew point temperature are modeled based on the nearest sounding data so as to correct the atmospheric attenuation by use of the NOAA satellite data. The optimum scheme is presented to convert the remote sensing ground temperature to air temperature through a number of experiments. The analysis of daily and seasonal temperature variations in Hefei shows that the urban cold islands exist as well as the heat islands, and that 3 kinds of land feature have different effects on the formation, strengthening and weakening or the heat and cold islands.
