Abstract
In this paper, the mean divergent circulation and the divergent component of the vertically integrated moisture flux over the Asian monsoon region before. during and after raining season(Mei-yu) in 1983. are analysed. Before Mei-yu the stronger convergence center
of the moisture flux is located over southern China and after Mei-yu period over the Indian monsoon regions. During the Mei-yu period two strong moisture convergence centers over the Indian and East Asian monsoon regions could be observed. The strong convergence
zones of the moisture flux are closely related to the variation of the rainaera over the eastern China and the distribution of the heat source. Also, the results show that there are fairly good corresponding relationship between Mei-yu over the Changjiang and Huaihe River Basin and the change of large scale divergent circulation. disposition of heat source and the distribution of the moisture flux convergence.
