DUAL DIFFERENTIAL ABSORPTION LIDAR:A NEW METHOD TO REDUCE EFFECTIVELY THE EFFECT OF AEROSOLS ON OZONE MEASUREMENT

  • The present paper describes the new method of ozone measurement, dual differential absorption lidar (dual-DIAL).Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that this method can effectively reduce the effect of aerosol extinction and backscattering on lidar ozone measurement. The accuracy of ozone measurement with this method is higher than conventional DIAL at the region where aerosol effect is heavy. The dual DIAL with (289,313:277.1.299.lnm) wavelengths or (268.4.289:277.1.299.lnm) wavelengths can be used for ozone measurement in the region, where aerosol loading is high or distribution inhomogeneous in the troposphere. The dual-DIAL with (299.1.341.5:308.353nm) wavelengths can be used for the measurement of stratospheric ozone after the volcanic eruption.
