Abstract
Based on the measurement data of cloud by dual linear polarization radar in Pingliang Radar Station,Lanzhou Institute of Plateau Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the scattering properties of different hydrometeors with C band wavelength, the phase and size space distribution in stratus and cumulus clouds have been studied and analyed system actically. The regions of high positive ZDR subsequently extended to 4.0km altitude, where there is possibly larger supercooled raindrops and ice particles. These particles may affect the development of cloud. The change of ZDR with altitude due to the melting process below 0℃ isotherm is explained. The work represented the new research result of this area in China,it proved that the dual linear polarization radar can improve the ability of researching cloud physics and is useful in studying the cloud physics, weather modification and result test. This work have provided the evidente for the application of this technology in China.
