ESTIMATION OF SOLAR DIRECT AND SCATTERING RADIATIONS IN A CLEAR SKY ATMOSPHERE FROM SATELLITE DATA

  • Based on the multiple scattering theory, the radiative effect of moisture, aerosols, ozone and mixing gases is parameterized, and the Chinese sounding data and the NOAA TOVS retrieval data are used to calculate the solar direct and scattering radiations at each level in the atmosphere in terms of the discrete ordinate method.Meanwhile, the calculated radiations are statistically fitted with satellite visible and infrared radiation observations, thus developing a model for calculating the solar direct and scattering radiations from satellite observations in atmosphere. The solar radiations are of importance in atmospheric optic environment characteristics and the general circulation and climatic change researches.
