LARGE-SCALE AIR-SEA INTERACTION IN THE TROPICAL INDIAN OCEAN

Analyses on tropical subsurface temperature anomaly data show that there exists Dipole Mode on the ther-mocline in the Indian Ocean, with opposite sign in the eastern and western parts.At the same time, there is consistent condition in the at mosphere, which is "Walker circulation", which proves that there also exists large-scale interaction in the Indian Ocean, as ENSO in the Pacific Ocean.
