Abstract
In this paper, the first field observations were introduced on vertically path-integrated supper-cooled cloud liquid water content (SCCLWC) as well as vertically path-integrated cloud liquid water content (CLWC) by using an Airborne Upward-looking Microwave Radiometer in Jilin Province of China during the operations of precipitation-enhancement from April to July in 2001 and 2002.The results show that the equipment can perfectly measure the SCCLWC and CLWC as well as their changes in sheet clouds. It was found that the SCCLWC,especially for convection cells inlaid in sheet clouds,is much abundant with mag nitude level up to 103g/m and show significant non-homogeneity.The horizontal distributions of the SCCLWC are correlated with the distributions of PPI echointensity of surface weather radar.Using the data obtained during the ascent (or descent) courses of the plane,a profile of cloud liquid water (CLW) content is given, and the application prospect of the profiling-CLW method is discussed.
