The development and application of satellite ozone data: A review

  • With the development of satellite detection technology, the improvement of the theory of synoptic meteorology and climatology, and the application of high performance computer, satellite ozone data have been enriched and applied in diverse research fields, obtaining a series of important achievements. The development of the major spaceborne ozone detectors is described in this paper. Meanwhile, some research achievements in meteorology with satellite ozone data are summarized, including the applications in cyclone or depression, climate distribution and change characteristics of the global or regional ozone, distribution and change characteristics of the plateau ozone, and numerical model. In addition, the development trend of satellite ozone data in prospective is speculated.
