A review of the effects of relative humidity on aerosol scattering properties

  • Enhancement factors for scattering properties reflect the influence of relative humidity (RH) on aerosol scattering properties. Studies of the dependence of aerosol scattering properties on relative humidity are essential to evaluate aerosol direct radiative forcing and atmospheric visibility. A comprehensive review about the measuring technique, observations at home and abroad, empirical equations and modeling methods is presented. Few studies concerning this field have been carried out in China. Thereby it is imperative to comprehensively investigate effects of RH on aerosol scattering properties.
