Review of the 70 year development of weather forecasting in China

Weather forecasting is the core of meteorological operations, and it was not until the establishment of the People"s Republic of China that a systematic weather forecasting business system and business capacity construction began. This article reviews the development process of weather forecasting business over the past 70 years, and summarizes the basic conditions, business capabilities, and business characteristics of weather forecasting business at different stages of development. This paper also reviews the development process of meteorological science and technology and meteorological modernization to improve the operational ability and forecasting level of weather forecasting for numerical models, meteorological elements, rainstorm (snow), severe convective weather, typhoon and other special weather forecasting operations. This article reviews and summarizes the insights gained from the 70 year history of weather forecasting operations, including learning from advanced technologies, closely integrating scientific research with business operations, building on the foundation of meteorological modernization, and developing and innovating core meteorological technologies and their applications.
