Abstract:
An attempt has been made to classify the climatic regions of China according to Koeppen's 6nodified crieria and it is found that the new map differs notably from Koeppen's old map and the main differences are: 1.The BWkw region contains a much bigger area thin Koeppen's map; 2. the loess highlands are classifted as BSkw instead of Dwa in Koeppea's map; 3: the Cfa region constitutes a much bigger area than before, 4. the mountainous regions of western Szechuen, Sikang and Tibetan borderland should be classified as Dw instead cf Df. Furthermore the main climatic regions are subdivided into minor regions and the authors have introduced the product of mean annual rainfall and annual temperature to subdivide some of the major regions where Koeapen's criterion is not available.
