FREE OSCILLATIONS OF THE PRIMITIVE EQUATIONS OF MOTION IN SPHERICAL COORDINATES

  • 摘要: 利用球坐标中的原始运动方程组,讨论了大气的自由振动问题。把东、西风平均纬向风速廓线,以及与之相适应的位势高度廓线作为大气的基本状态,对线性化方程组,采用数值方法求出了特征波动解。比较了四阶差分和二阶差分的特征解,肯定了前者有较好的结果。

     

    Abstract: By using the primitive equations of motion in spherical coordinates, free oscillations of the atmosphere are discussed. These equations are linearized in relalion to the atmospheric basic state. The easterly, as well as westerly mean zonal wind profile, and the associated geopotential profile are included in the basic state. Numerical method is applied to obtain the characteristic wave solutions. The eigensolutions by 2-order difference scheme are compared with those obtained by utilizing 4-order difference scheme. The eigensolutions for basic state at rest are also compared with those obtained under the assumption of a basic state with zonal wind profile of jet and non-jet type. Some discussion about how to apply the results to data assimilation is also made.
