层结切变流中的Rossby波的稳定度

THE STABILITY OF ROSSBY WAVES IN A STRATIFIED SHEAR FLUID

  • 摘要: Rossby波的稳定度问题是大气动力学的中心问题之一,这方面的研究工作已有很多。早期,文献1-4,9采用标准波型法对此问题作了开创性的研究,得到了许多重要结论。如,有关不稳定的判据,稳定波和不稳定波的结构,以及它们对维持大气环流所起的作用等。

     

    Abstract: In this paper the stability of linear Rossby waves in a stratified shea:fluid is investigated by using the qualitative theory of ordinary differential equations.It is found that (Ⅰ)if the basic current has no shear at all,the Rossby waves are always stable;(2) if the basic current has horizontal shear only,the unstablecriterion for the waves is sK2+n2f0(f0-∂u/∂y)u/∂y)>0;(4)if the basic current has both horizontal and vertical shears if sK2+n2f0(f0-∂u/∂y)2+n2f0(f0-∂u/∂y)>0,the unstable crtierion is f0(f0-∂u/∂y)n -∂u/∂y)>0
