Abstract: By using the linearized equations for the small motion, the local conditions of convection development are discussed. It is shown that the vertical derivative of vertical shear of prevaling wind is a stable factor for the growth of disturbance, and further indicated that the presence of cumulus streets depends upon the type of profile of the prevaling wind.
