地转适应过程的数值试验

SOME NUMERICAL EXPERIMENTS OF GEOSTROPHIC ADJUSTMENT

  • 摘要: 本文利用半球范围的非线性正压原始方程组的差分格式,对地转适应过程的一些问题作了数值试验,结果和以前的线性理论和非线性理论结果相一致,还给出了适应过程所需的时间等特征的定量资料。此外,丈中还模拟了四维分析问题,指出,只更新气压场而不同时对风场作更新或适当处理,是没有效果的。

     

    Abstract: Some aspects of geostrophic adjustment are investigated by numerical experiment with nonlinear barotropic primitive equations in hemispheric area. The results are in good agreement with those obtained previously by both the linear and nonlinear theory. The characteristic time required for the adjustment process as well as the other quantitative data are given. The problem of four-dimensional assimilation is also discussed, indicating that it would not he of benefit, if the updating is made only in the pressure field without treatment of wind field.
